A Workshop on Health and Nutrition for Women and Preschool Children
Anganwadi workers are key people in society who impart nutritional knowledge in the community to control malnutrition among preschool children. SHG leaders also play a major role in women empowerment. Hence, on the occasion of Poshan Maah, a workshop was conducted for Anganwadi workers and SHG leaders in Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sagroli on 17 September 2020.
The principal aim behind
this programme was to spread the nutritional knowledge among these groups and
indirectly support to decrease malnutrition among preschool children and anemia
from rural women. Hence, in this programme, topics like low-cost high
nutritious food, dietary management in malnutrition and anemia, immunity-boosting
foods and the importance of nutritional garden development in the backyard of the
house were covered. A total of 100 seed kits which were received from IFFCO for
back yard nutritional garden were also given to participants in this programme.
Smt. Gangamani Girgaonkar (Child development project office, Integrated child
development scheme, Biloli), Smt. Sunanda Deshmukh (Savitribai Fule Mahila Vikas
Mandal, sagroli), Dr. S. D. Kulkarni (Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, sagroli)
were present for the programme.
